Aquatics Department Notes

Aquatics

Established as a year round program in 1987, Westboro Tennis & Swim Club Aquatics offers the full range of Red Cross Swim Instruction, Pre-School Programs, Aquatics Training School, Birthday Party Service, and an abundant, year round lap and recreational swim.  All programs are taught by Red Cross certified instructors, with guarding by Red Cross certified lifeguards.  An Adult Masters Program, junior Westboro Raiders Swim Team and adult/Junior stroke clinics prepare swimmers for competitive swimming.

Westboro Tennis Club is the home practice site for the, the Westboro High School Rangers and the Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawk Swim Teams, both of which are MIAA Swim Teams.  Also practicing at the club are the GMPI Red Hawks Special Olympics Swim Team.

Our philosophy at the pool is to create a friendly, safe, and clean environment so that adults and children can reach
their individual goals and enjoy the facility. Please contact Brian Doherty with any questions.

About our pool:

Our swimming pool is an indoor/outdoor, 25 yard, 6 lane pool.  From Labor Day until Memorial Day, the bubble goes on the pool and deck area, and the pool becomes an indoor recreation and fitness get-away.  From Memorial Day through Labor Day, our bubble is off!  During this Summer Season, members may also enjoy our Children's Pool, which is self-enclosed and adjacent to our large pool.  In the summer, we also offer a courtside snack bar which sells ice cream, hotdogs, pizza, salads, and sandwiches.

Activities:

Summer Fun at the Pool!

Our pool is indoors in the winter, and outdoors in the summer!

Our pool is typically open for family swim and lap swim.  Our schedule changes with the seasons (see below).  Generally there is lap swim and family swim available for much of the day, every day.  Dispersed between family swim and lap swim we have numerous seasonal dependant activities.  We have swim lessons, swim teams, physical therapy, water fitness and adult programs which are all scheduled in advance.  The bulk of the time each day, however, is open for members to use our pool either for exercise or recreation.

Policies:

We have posted pool rules, but to supplement our policies, please be aware of the following.

  • Children under 12 cannot be left unattended at the pool.

  • We do not sell junior swim memberships to children under 12.

  • Guest fees are charged to any non-member who visits the pool area in the summer.  As a courtesy, in the winter guest fees are usually waived so long as the guest is there to observe a junior swim during recreational time.  Guest fees apply if the non-member intends to use the pool or other facilities.

  • Lap lanes are reserved for adults only.

Scheduling:

Pool schedules are broken up into roughly four different times of the year, mainly by season.  We post current schedules online and at the club.  We leave previous season's schedules online so that prospective members may see what we do at the pool during other seasons.  We also post drafts of future schedules as they become available, but those drafts are subject to change as effective dates near.
